Chasing the Wind in Patagonia
November 10, 2024

We trekked the W Circuit under skies that changed every five minutes — howling gales one moment, golden silence the next.
Day 1: We landed in Punta Arenas after a bumpy flight from Santiago. The wind was immediately humbling — a constant 60 km/h reminder that Patagonia sets the rules here. Day 2: We started the W Circuit at Lago Grey, picking our way across moraine fields with the glacier glowing blue in the distance. Nothing prepares you for that color. Day 3: The iconic towers. We woke at 3am, hiked four hours in the dark, and arrived at the mirador just as sunrise lit the granite spires orange and pink. Worth every blister.
